What type of Snooker table should I get?
February 29, 2008
One hard decision for anyone wanting to purchase a snooker table, is what type of snooker table they should by. Sometimes this is restricted to how much space you have in your house for the table! Snooker tables available to purchase range from fold-away snooker tables, to full size slate tables each with their own advantages.
Fold away tables normally have an MDF playing service, which is less playable than the heavier slate tables. However the fold away tables can fit neatly into the corner of your room, and they are much cheaper to buy. These tables are ideal if you want to make your dining room a place to eat and to play snooker in! These kind of snooker tables come in a wide range of size, from children’s sizes to full size adult tables.
If you have more room in your house and are more serious about pool the best type of table would be a full size slate table. These kind of tables normally have to be built in your house due to the weight of the table once it has been completed. The frame of the table has to be strong as the slate playing surface is very heavy.
After the slate has been placed on the frame it is then covered with a tightly stretched cloth. These tables need a dedicated snooker room, as once completed the table is very hard to move and can’t be folded! These tables come in a wide range of sizes, including professional sizes for those more serious snooker enthusiasts.
Peter Ebdon profile

Peter Ebdon is known in snooker as a grafter, who is hard to beat. This attitude has led Ebdon to no fewer than 7 tournament victories. The 33 year old player loves playing on the big occasions like the crucible, and has upset a few big names on many occasions. The best part of Edbon’s game is his safety play, Ebdon has also been known to frustrate his opponents with negative tactics, and slowing the game down.
Ebdon does take the game very seriously and is renowned for a strict fitness regime during the snooker season, which involves heavy cardiovasulcar training.

Ronnie O Sullivan completes fastest ever 147 break
February 28, 2008
Back in 1997 Ronnie O’Sullivan completed the fastest ever maximum break. ‘Rocket Ronnie’ as he is known took a whole five minutes twenty seconds to complete his 147 against a player named ‘Mick Price’.
Even more remarkable is the fact that the game was played at the Crucible in front of a full crowd. However, playing at the worlds most prestigious snooker event seemed to have little effect on his confidence as he made this maximum break look easy.
Although Ronnie holds the top 5 fastest recorded breaks in history, this break has still yet to be surpassed.
Find the video of this break below for your enjoyment.

Mark Selby wins Welsh Open Final
February 27, 2008

Mark Selby completed a remarkable comeback against O’sullivan in the Welsh Open final on Sunday. Having been 8-5 down to Ronnie, Mark managed to win the match 9-8.
O’Sullivan started the match as the firm favourite, and deserved his 8-5 lead. However Mark played some determined snooker playing a nearly perfect safety game which help him grasp victory from the jaws of defeat.
O’Sullivan took the defeat well, but took a swipe at Marks negative tactics, stating that Mark would never go for a ball unless he knew he was going to pot it. O’Sullivan plays with a more attacking style, attempting the pot whenever he feels it is possible.
Selby was convinced he had no chance of winning at 8-5 down, and though Ronnie was going to run away with the match. The inevitability of defeat seemed to relax Selby who played some good safe snooker from that point to nick the championship.
From a personal point of view, I don’t like players that play with negative tactics, however I do like tight games, so this match was enjoyable to watch.
